ICGCYF 2015

Call for Sessions, Papers, & Posters

The call for submissions closed on 10/31/2014. More than 140 abstracts were submitted!  For inquiries regarding the conference program or to update or withdraw an abstract previously submitted, please contact Thomas Herman (therman@mail.sdsu.edu).

Located on the US/Mexico border, the 4th International Children's Geographies Conference has a theme of young people, borders and well-being. We encourage delegates to explore the bordered contexts of children and young people -- childhood, adulthood, intergenerational relations, politics, mobility/staying put, ethnicities, citizenship, education, labor, play, engagement and activism, etc. – in terms of the ways that they promote well-being and geographies of hope.

In addition to accepting abstracts for individual 15-minute paper and poster presentations, we are open to innovative session formats and sessions that focus on experimental themes, methodologies, presentations and performances. Session organizers are not limited to the suggestions described on the Session Formats page when proposing their session for the ICG, but the suggested alternative session formats are designed to:

  • Encourage a wide range of contributions and the active involvement of a wide range of people;

  • Address the heightened importance of impact and engagement, including the place of research in society

  • Be suitable for range of outputs and follow-up activities, from book and journal publications to blogs and practitioner interventions.
